Young Amsterdam; political refugee - people's glorious social republic of iowa

Hey everyone,

I visited the southern part of New Hampshire in the summer of 2006. PSM is my character reference for all you fine individuals. He's a long time family friend, not to mention one of my closest compadres in this struggle.

As I started to get settled in up in New Hampshire I had an overwhelming emotional experience, such as a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. I felt like I was a character in the novel The Probability Broach by Neil Smith. Your culture and your people received me so graciously, didn't give a damn what I did and made no attempt to force their lifestyles on me, which is something I've become accustomed to growing up in the midwest. When I left New Hampshire back to Iowa I got caught up in the juvenile criminal justice system and with the exception of family illness that was the most devastating and untherapeutic experience that I ever had in my life. In Iowa, when you're under 18 and your probation, your parents have no control over the direction your life is headed. Embittered, overweight and dogmatic female court officers do not receive my personality nor my world view as something that's even valid. I was looked at as a lunatic. Placed in a juvenile facility for 110 days that predominately was a behavioral disorder re-education camp. I was there under the false pretense of my chemical dependency and I have no behavior disorder whatsoever. I have never hit a person, treated an animal with cruelty or to the best of my knowledge done any sort of theft whatsoever in my life. But my vocal opposition to the system left me jammed up like a vegetable in a  dystopia that I hope no one else ever has to go through for 110 days.  By the way, when you look at my name, I'm sure you can get a little bit of insight of my views and some of my personal habits.

If I would have never left New Hampshire in the first place, none of those negative things would ever have happened to me. From what I've been hearing and seeing online, there is a cultural "revolution" starting in your area.

And I will be coming up to join all you fine people in a few weeks, if not sooner.

I have three predominant concerns and I would really appreciate some help from anyone who might have a free moment.

I will be driving my 98 Buick LeSabre and I will be looking to place a down payment on a new vehicle along with the trade-in value of my old Hoopty. So if there are any car dealers on this forum, please contact me directly or if anyone can send me in the right direction with a phone number or address that would be appreciated.

I need immediate work. I'm a natural born salesman with a gift of gab. I have experience in a few different fields, not to mention a General Equivalency Diploma (GED). I have 6 months of  telemarketing experience (sales).  I have a "door to door/sidewalk" salesmanship mentality. I've also developed the ability to be competitive with Hispanic gentlemen when working at dishwashing and food preparation. So if there are any employers on this forum who would possibly be interested in interviewing me, please contact me personally; once again, any hot leads would be appreciated and could simply be incorporated in a follow-up post to my new intro thread.

And most importantly I have no idea what I will be doing for lodging. Any tips on low price, weekly rates at b&bs, inns or motels would be appreciated. Now I presume it's not against the law to sleep in your car in New Hampshire, but if that's what I have to do to be free, then I'll do it, but I prefer to be comfortable.

FREEDOM!!,

Y.A.

17 people have viewed this and - and not a single responce. Ok then? I understand this a small local fourm but any hints or tips would be great, thanks!

Don't worry too much about housing; several activists offer couch space to new movers.

As for a job, check Craigslist and the Keene Sentinel ads.

See you inn a few weeks!

Welcome - I think you'll enjoy the activist community here in Keene.

Jesse has an open couch policy, so that may be a good place to start.  There are usually rooms for rent as well.  You may want to see the housing subforum.

I know PC Connection has had a banner on their building promoting hiring salesmen for longer than I can remember.  Also, JJ has been talking about doing a newspaper.  May be a side-opportunity for you there.

Perhaps, and this is just me, the reason for low response is that I feel that if I have a need I first go out and try to solve that need, then if I can't solve that need then I ask. I apply this rule of mine to others as well

Your post didn't include that you were actively searching, so I'm not motivated to help those who aren't willing to try to help themselves first. I mean if I'm doing more work then you are to help you, then obviously there is something wrong with you.

Please understand that I'm not trying to be unfriendly here. The purpose of a forum like this, that is one that stores all manner of topics, is that they are meant to be searched through and read. Just because they are old, doesn't make them any less relevant.

Also, I don't go around greeting everyone. I'm more or less an anti-social personality type in that regard. Other then that. Hey, welcome!

Salaried Entry Level Sales - Keene - http://jobsinnh.com/seek/resultdetail.aspx?jobnum=479989.
+ a whole boat load of recent sales job listings here: http://nh.craigslist.org/sls/ - not necessarily in the Keene area.

Also, the forum is low-traffic and one must sometimes be patient for a reply, though your points are vaild, Cyberdoo.  Young Amsterdam, there are certainly jobs here.  For some examples, see the jobs subforum.

hey man check this out. I'm turning 19 on may 27. i have also just witnessed a friend of mine being almost beat to death. the police then treated him like a criminal as well as myself and since i have been targeted by various law enforcement officers for the last year due to my association with blacks. i also have an anxiety disorder as well as a few learning disabilities. now fortunately I'm not as anti-social as you so what i would recommend is that you go sit somewhere in the fetal position and read atlas shrugged by ayn rand until you've memorized it. you mentioned that you weren't trying to offend me but it seems like you feebly attempted to treat me on a public forum so please try to avoid that in the future and i look forward to meeting you my introverted brother. to everyone else including PSM thank you for your valuable time and ill be seeing everyone up in your free state within 48 hours.
