What is a good way to introduce yourself to somebody and have a good first conversation? I am a little shy but I want to be friends with this person at my school but I'm not sure how to have a good first conversation.

I'm wicked shy too, and sometimes when I meet someone I find it so hard to come up with things to just chit chat about. Sometimes the other person will notice my social awkwardness and bring up questions for me. Sometimes it's like I can't find anything more than one word answers to those questions.
Is this a person you're possibly interested in romantically?
