The Draft

Greetings everyone. I live in Arizona right now, but I really want to move to New Hampshire. I just need to convince my wife, find a job and place in New Hampshire, and get enough money in order to move cross-country! I was able to get my wife to say she'll be willing to move if they reinstate the draft. Probably not too far off…

Would Obama's "community work projects" count in her eyes?

Congrats on your decision!

I think this is the deal: Military draft at all-Move to NH
"Civilian" draft, where one of us is drafted-Move to NH

Awesome. Know your bounds.

Are either of you in the target range that the bill currently preports, 18-35? If you are, you will be drafted. There is no wiggle room, as the bill sits now. You will be their slave. Its just a matter of when.

Yeah, I am 18-35, but I think it'll be a while yet before they try to draft me. I betcha it'll be a second term sort of thing.

Would it be easier, or more difficult, to move to NH if one of you is already drafted?

If it gets signed into law, will you move then? Since if you a drafted you'd be stuck, perhaps, where you are?

Well, I could get drafted in NH as well as in AZ. The benefit of NH is I would have a better chance because we would all be standing up against it together. So, if the law passes, I will start making plans to move (look for a job, etc.). If I actually get immediately drafted, I would drop everything and go. I think prison would be so much better than the military.

Good news! I was able to convince my wife last night that we should move if Obama's preventitive detention measures or any kind of anti-hate speech legislation was passed. I also spied her looking up the free state project and checking New Hampshire craigslist for jobs. You guys wouldn't happen to know any open paralegal positions or computer support/troubleshooting/programming positions?
