Swindependent, that's me!

I'm 25 years old, and the way I came into the liberty lifestyle was an interesting path. My major in college was social studies secondary education, which basically means you have to take all of the education classes plus all of the history classes, and it doesn't even count as a double major. After college, I met people who introduced me to the liberty way of life, Ron Paul and through my own self-directed research I came across many different societal problems I had hitherto not even been aware of. Looking for a job in the quagmire that is the current education system also was a great learning experience for me. It was the year before the 2012 election, so hype was high about Ron Paul as well. Of course, the liberty movement goes much deeper than Dr. Paul, and I've had much more self-directed research since then, and am currently in the midst of reading rothbard, mises, thaddeus russell, and mary ruwart to name a few. I'm a huge podcast junkie, and want to create one of my own. I actually came across this forum twice in about a minute, once while looking up stateless marriages and once while exploring the forum on sexliesanarchy's website. I also want to create my own school someday.

Excellent!  Welcome.

When are you planning to come to the Shire?

Hi! You came to the forum before I did, but I'm still welcoming you.

That's an interesting story of how you became interested and active. I went through state schools, being more reactive than proactive in my education. Although some independent education slipped through the cracks, my directed education happened later. The teachings of Rothbard, Dr. Paul, Tom Woods, and others didn't make it into public education for me. (I did get to read Thoreau in H.S., which inspired my first few acts of civil disobedience)
I wish you all the luck in educating independent thinkers.
