Shire Bound

Hi my name is Aaron. I am a liberty lover. (I love liberty and liberty lovers). I am currently living in the swamps of Houston Texas but will be headed North soon. I haven’t made the move yet because I am finishing game design school. That’s right I make video games. I self taught myself most of the basics and put out a couple of games on the ITunes appStore. Then at some point I found out about the cause of Liberty and began to consume everything I could about the idea. I stopped paying attention to sports and television and video games when I realized how important spreading these concepts were. I have decided that the best way I can help promote these ideas is through making video games. I made the decision to go to school for this reason. I was already making games but they lacked polish. I found a low cost school with a budding game design program (that happened to be only 2 miles from my parents house). I am about half way done with the 2 year degree. I really don’t care about the piece of paper as I plan to work with for myself or a small Indy studio. If the FSP move is triggered before I finish I will be very tempted to drop out and move. So right now I am working at a local golf course and saving Bitcoin for the move. I also hope to have a new game on the market to help supplement the cost of the move. The main reasons I am here is to meet fellow activists, learn about what I am getting myself into and to find out more about the Shire. I also crave being able to talk to people who get it. I am surrounded by statists and it is very refreshing when I get to speak to anyone that isn’t. So for the last question as to how I heard about this. I am not exactly sure. It was either Shire Dude talking about it on RLS or Ian plugging it on FTL. I don’t remember. I have wanted to get on here for awhile now and have been putting it off. Dealing with statists all day everyday has motivated me to get on here more than anything. Can’t wait to meet everybody.

Right on Aaron.  It will be good to have more liberty-oriented game designers in the world.  Brian Sovryn recently made a teaser for a bigger game.  It’s called Hypercronius:  http://zog.ninja

Welcome

Greetings Aaron,

I think making a video game to teach the concepts of Liberty is a great idea. My husband and I wanted to do something similar, starting at the root of the concepts with metaphysics - particularly the nature of man, epistemology, and ethics, taught in a video game to show in conclusion how Liberty MUST naturally be had by all men (non-gender specific, of course), like playing your way through a logical argument for liberty. I started learning and working with Unity 3D for a while but had some other projects come up. I’d love to see what you come up with.

Hope we run into you in The Shire!

Akilah

I was also going to mention Brian Sovryn’s Hypercronius. Anyway, NH is less swampy, and will be a big cultural change. I think it will be for the better. Good luck getting here, and best wishes when you do!
