Hey folks!!
I and my family have been members of the FSP for quite a while now. We are from VA, and have been bummed out because the move to NH wasnt going to be possible for years. Well all of that has changed!! We are actively looking for rental properties. Any advice in this area would be very helpful. I am a honda mechanic, so I would want to be within a 45 minute driving distance of a Honda, Acura, or Subaru dealer(I've done the domestic thing, I'm over it). The more cars I work on the more money I make. Does anyone go to the Honda dealer in Swazney? If so, is it big? Does it seem busy? Sorry guys I would love to have some 1st hand knowledge in this area, it's kind of important. I am looking at dealerships in Manchester, and Keene area. I have posted over at the FSP forum, and while it has been helpful, I still have many questions.
Does anyone here know anybody that rents month to month? We would want to buy property soon after arrival, so a small lease would be ideal. Any help in this area would be great! Ian/moderators please excuse my barging in, and thank you for your gracious hospitality.
Regards,
Chris
P.S-you will know I have arrived when you see fliers for "libertys mechanic" on your cars. No, I will not be licensed!
Chris,
Welcome to the forum. How did you find us?
There are a cluster of dealerships located in Swanzey just outside the Keene line, so they don't have to pay as much in taxes. That's about all I know.
Check out our rental thread at http://housing.freekeene.com for some helpful links.
How soon are you looking at moving? Have you visited the Monadnock Families for Liberty facebook group? http://families.freekeene.com
Hey Ian,
I found freekeene through listening to FTL. We are looking at being in NH by June 1st, but certainly within 3 months. I am probably the only one in their early 30's who is not on Facebook, although I have been meaning to remedy that. So, I have not checked out the Monadnock Families for Liberty facebook group. Thanks for input, I realized while navigating the forum, I might have posted in the wrong section, my apologies.
I, and certainly many others, would consider my views on liberty pretty radical, and the Keene area sounds about right.

What is this "licensing," of which you speak…?
(someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I've never heard of a licensed auto mechanic in NH)
Joe
It was only a joke Joe, obviously not a very good one. Although I do have many private credentials(ASE and such).
Facebook is nearly a must-have up here. Otherwise you'll be out-of-the loop on a lot of stuff.

Nah, you're not the only one. A number of folks refuse to use FedBook…

I just figured that they actually had licensing, where you are, and you didn't realize that NH doesn't. Wouldn't surprise me if a number of states demanded that mechanics get licensed…
NH does, unfortunately, have a large number of licensed professions.
NH does, fortunately, have a large number of loopholes in the licensing requirements. For example, there's an architecture license, but if you only do one- and two-family homes, under four stories and under 4000 square feet (don't quote me - that's just my recollection of the numbers, from several years ago), you don't need a license. Lots of stuff like that.
Trying to get them to let folks earn a living without paying protection money to the State for the privilege is one of the hot issues with a lot of the liberty activists, currently, be they working with the legislature, or by civil disobedience (search for "outlaw puppet show"), agorism, or some combination thereof…
