I have introduced myself here before but a lot has changed since then. My name is Robin and I am a 27 year old lady (orig from NC) living in Germany with my husband and kiddos. Instead of just talking about moving to NH, we said "fuck it, lets go now"! So the movers come to pack up all of our belongings next Monday, we should be flying out of here on the 1st (hopefully sooner), making a pit stop in NC and VA to visit family on the way up (if they still want to talk to us haha) to NH and will be stopping just outside of Keene and setting up camp while we hunt for a house and figure out how we will paying our rent (not going to buy a new house just yet)!!
;D EXCITING!!
It is so funny because we have had a few family members tell us we are insane for just "moving somewhere with no jobs lined up". They never have a solution to offer, just complaints about the situation… They can kiss my ass, we spent so long worrying about the money we were making I think we put what we really want on the back burner. I am SO GLAD that visiting NH and finding a new family pushed us in the right direction, the very first day we got there I knew we had to go back as soon as we could!!
Along with Momma Ally, I will be working on a homeschooling co-op that is going to be based in Keene! We plan to fill a room with everything anyone could need to home school their kiddos, we are hoping to have school up and running by the end of August for anyone who wants to come by and check us out. Keep in touch and I will update you with a location once we have a spot!
Über-kool. 8)
You're making this jump at the right time. If you were someone like me, who hesitated, you'd spend the next five years fretting how to pay for a move, pay off a mortgage, etc., etc, usw., usw.
I'll catch up with you in a couple of years after I deal with mortgage and moving und so weiter. 8)
Definitely way cool. A move from Germany makes those of us here in the States who are hesitating look cowardly by comparison.
I don't think we met at PorcFest, but I remember seeing you at Buzz's dance party… for some reason, I assumed you were already living in NH. I didn't know you were in Germany until I read somewhere else that that's where you are at. Good luck with the move!
I figure we have the money to do it now, we need to go ahead and do it before we think twice about it and before we freak out about not having jobs when we first get there. haha. We still have a house in NC to deal with, but if I stay there too long to sell it I think we will NEVER get out of NC so I am going to try renting it out again and hope for the best…
I am a HUGE procrastinator and it is time for me to put a stop to that! I know my kids will be better off in NH than any other place we have lived in, it looks amazing and there will be tons of stuff for them to do!
I'm enviously looking on from Italy.
Where did I put that green card lottery URL…

I am debating on working a "job" or seeing what else I can do for cash. I would like to start sewing and vending festivals again but that really is only good money for the summer (unless I head WAY down south during the winter for that kind of stuff), and I would probably have to go to Vermont or somewhere to sell what I make. We will see, I am still learning to tattoo so I am looking for a house with a finished basement to turn into a studio eventually!
That's the spirit. I like your lets just get up and go attitude. Makes me feel a little less crazy for quitting my job and packing my things without knowing for sure where exactly I'm moving to. I think it might be round Keene or Peterborough, if this band idea works out. Yeah, this is Scott.
Maybe I'll hire you to sew clothes for me to paint on, depending on the market for it. Probably cheaper to buy the clothing premade. Havent really penetrated the market with the ones I made. I suck at marketing tho. I need to work on that.
t-shirts to paint on are probably cheaper pre-made… but if it was other stuff like halter tops, patchwork pants and dashikis to paint on, i can make it pretty cheap and it is easy to sew… also cheap to cut up old donated t-shirts and re-sew em into girly things
i am actually sitting in an empty house typing this since they loaded up all my stuff yesterday to move it, said it will take 6 weeks or more to get to the us… i will update again once i have tickets to fly outta this craphole!
also… hi scott
