Professional Vagabond, C.U.E. (Certified Unwellness Expert), Part-time Pirate

Guess that covers it.  Oh…I forgot…Outlaw cruiser.  What else?  Political Prisoner.  I found my way to the Shire from the Sex, Lies and Anarchy website.  I have never been anything other than a Libertarian…I joined the Libertarian Party of PA way back in the Mid Eighties. Left PA when the sociopaths in that state elected as Governor one of the most frightening men of my era…Tom Ridge.  When the state legislature of PA said that it was okie-doke to just stop any car at any time without probable cause and that they could search it without a warrant…I decided that PA was no longer my cup of tea.  I have since lived in many other states and I now live in Alaska.

I have only just found out about this "Free State Project" and this seems to be the place to find out more.  I am kind of chagrined that I am only just finding out about it now…seeing as how I have championed libertarianism my entire life.  Sheesh…I was reading Ayn Rand and Hayek since my teen years and I am sickened to see how grotesque our country has become in preserving individual freedoms.  I am extremely interested in what NH has to offer this lover of freedom AND personal responsibility.

Hopefully this is enough to pass the "Moderators" requirements for an introductory post…I promise that I'll warm up to this forum…I am a bit shy…and a little bit paranoid…One could easily imagine this "Shire" being on some sort of 'watch' list…Oh well…Only the paranoid survive.

Welcome!

I've got an anarchist buddy in Alaska who also has a few anarchist buddies in Alaska. They're located in Fairbanks. Anyways, there's a good chance one, some, or all of them will be migrating to New Hampshire in the near future. My buddy tells me that people often think Alaska would be great refuge for then the SHTF, but that it's really not. And the people aren't anywhere near as liberty minded as the people in the lower 48 think they are.

Anywho, New Hampshire is great. I moved here from California a little less than a year ago. I can't think of any place I'd rather be.

How do we know you're not a Fed?

How do we know you're not?

IMO, any feds are welcome here, we might even convince a few to quit their jobs.

And you believed a word they told you?

I didn't really think that anybody posting here would being pulling double-agent duty…though I suppose that it's not impossible.  I was  implying that it would be monitored from without…say that fancy new snooping center in Utah maybe.  Paranoia just comes with the internet territory as politicians and their masters seem to believe they have boundless powers in the cyber-world.  They can think this because nobody seems to be doing much to hinder them.

In reply to 'elkingrey' : I too was sold on the idea that Alaska was a more libertarian minded place.  A few minutes here quickly dispels any notion of that.  I have found Alaska to have much, much in common with the other so-called "red states", in that they are increasingly militant in their suppression of liberty. They have a huge military presence here…and with that the mindless rah-rahism of extreme patriotism and a deep seated fondness, nay…love of all things connected to the military/industrial complex.  Nothing keeps citizens safer than the eminent prospect of war, right?  There are many here that wholeheartedly believe that.  Another thing you'll find is that just like the other red states, Alaska has a more than disturbing love for all things religious.  I wasn't here for a day before I was invited to attend some church or another.

Avast ye lubber!  Rid from my sight that evil book of lies!!!

Sorry,  I told you I was a part-time Pirate.  Where was I?

Another thing they really adore and foster here is the notion that for profit prisons are somehow a good thing.  And they may be…as long as we keep them FULL!!! (But that discussion if for another day).  But here's an interesting statistic from the "Last Frontier"…Since I have lived here fishing (as an industry) has slumped from it's long held position as Number 2 economic engine to a distant fourth. (Oil extraction related industries being number one). The Incarceration industry is now holding that second position.  This means that in terms of money…putting people in prison is more productive than supplying the world with fish in this state. Sad…really sad.

I am going to find out more about New Hampshire.  It sounds kind of hippy, but different I guess.  I do see parallels with the flower child/free love movement of the late 60's and early 70's…though I would be loathe to make an outright comparison.  Convince me that New Hampshire would be a good place for this somewhat jaded lifelong Libertarian to live and prosper in.

Re. the Fed business - it is generally unwise to foment paranoia, even by making such an inquiry, especially where there are no means of verifying whether one is or isn't.
