New mover intro

hi,
thought i'd introduce myself…
i'm planning on coming up for the freedom fest and take a tour of the state.  I'll be coming prepared to stay if i like what i see… and can find a cheap place to stay until i can find a job.

i don't have any contacts in the FSP or NH so i'm kinda starting from scratch in that regard.  I've been thinking about moving for years, but i haven't done anything about it until now.

i accept most of the anarchist position and i think i'd like to be in keene with the anarchists but i'm not sure i'm completely opposed to the political activism, so maybe i should consider other areas.

I love the civil disobediance that's been going on and would probably participate in that to some extent but i have my doubts about where that road is leading.

I guess i'll learn more about all that in a couple of weeks at the freedom fest.

I look forward to meeting everyone.

Tim
Reading, Pa

Welcome! Looking forward to meeting you at Porcfest.

Hell o, see ya at Porc Fest.

Porcfest is a great place to start.  Keene has political action, though it's obviously far overshadowed by the market activism.  Just last week several activists attended and some spoke at the city council meeting.  Word was liberty activists were 1/3 of the audience.

I've been very impressed with the Keene folks lately. Perhaps, I may possibly join you at some point in my life. Concord for now.

Hey Tim.  Welcome.

There is lots of political activism happening in Keene.  Most of the folks I know here do at least a little political activism.  I do a ton of it so if you ever want to get involved, make sure to contact me.  I could keep you busy for 8 hours a day with political stuff in Keene if you are interested  ;D

Of course, if you decide to move to another part of the state, that is fine too.  Political activism is happening everywhere in NH.  The CD stuff is mostly limited to a few areas.

I think that many will be surprised by the political action in Keene in just a few months…

Of course many "by the book" politicos will still be very upset at us, even though we'll be using the system as they so implore us.

Welcome! I was near Reading a few times coming east on 80 and then south on 95 through Philadelphia(gave some NYC drunk ex-cops a historical tour…the first time I'd seen philadelphia). I hope you enjoy porcfest; a lot of cool people will be there.

thanks everyone for the welcome.

i'm intrigued by what Ian has in mind that will so upset the "by the book" politicos…i guess i'll have to wait and see.

I have a little poem about just that very thing:

GET INVOLVED
COPYRIGHT 2009 by Sam A. Robrin or whoever the hell it is who writes these things. Go ahead and use it, but if you make a little money on it, I want some!

We love our liberties,
And live life as we please
Regardless of the callous way you try to run the town.
We've stayed defiant sorts,
Ignored your laws and courts.
When you compelled obedience we stood and faced you down.

You found us unignorable,
Entirely deplorable,
Just kooky nonconformists mocking custom and convention.
Being "different," acting strange
Was no way to muster change,
You said.  As long as we behaved that way, you'd pay us no attention.

"Get involved," you said,
"Work with the system."
"The council's done good things for you," you said
(Though I'm hard-pressed to list 'em . . .).
We're involved–you won.
So take a bow!
Hey!  What are you complaining about now?

We could tell from your reaction
You received no satisfaction
From the offbeat and outlandish way we persiflaged and sparred.
We would show up at your sessions
And you'd brandish grim expressions
Like someone'd dumped a dead rhinoceros in your back yard.

So we put on suits and ties,
Curbed our wont for cracking wise,
Got informed about the laws and processes of regulation,
Filed writs and affidavits
To mandate the State behave its-
Elf.  You voted down each one without the least deliberation.

"Get involved," you'd said,
"Work with the system."
But when we gave you our suggestions
You summarily dismissed 'em.
We're involved–you're ho-
lier-than-thou.
And regardless, you maintain complaining now.

However hard we tried,
We found out our hands were tied
And insisting on our rights was viewed as being rather quaint.
Every action was about you
LIke we couldn't live without you
And "involvement" meant accepting without question or complaint.

For our mindless acquiescence
We got further State excrescence.
What you called "participation" was demand for our assent.
The laws, we can see now, are
Just your tools for keeping power.
We give up!  To hell with it!  Our goal is zero government!

"Get involved," you said,
"Work with the system."
If you had any other helpful hints,
I guess we must have missed 'em.
"Get involved," you said.
We are–and how!
We'll give you lots of reasons for complaining now!

Awesome poem! :o

Thanks for sharing, Sam!
