Hello everyone!
I just joined the Free State Project last night and I have come here to state my intention to move to Keene.
I have always been a person who values freedom, but when I was younger I foolishly thought that the government was around to protect freedom. Silly me. I joined the Navy when I was 17 in the year 2000. Four years later I was the only person in my squadron who was openly anti-war. The best thing the military did for me was strip me of my illusions about the government. I was making a decent salary at the end of my contract, but I couldn't stay in and be a part of it. I was angry at the system. It took a long time for me to get over that anger. Learning about the Free State Project helped a lot. Seeing that there are other people who want to work toward a voluntary society was great.
My intention is to work at civil disobedience and non-cooperation, but I haven't ruled out political activism at all. I am willing to work in any area where I feel I can be effective at promoting liberty. It seems to me that getting out and talking to people can be some of the most effective activism you can do. That is one of the reasons I am interested in FIJA. Handing out fliers to prospective jurors is a great time to talk about victimless crime laws with ordinary people.
I originally heard about Free Keene and the Free State Project through the Ridley Report. I have been watching those videos for several months, but for some reason I didn't sign up until last night. I guess I wanted to make sure that this was for me. I am now certain that it is. I don't have a move date (I just started to save money for the move), but I look forward to coming as soon as I possibly can.
Thank you all for everything you are doing,
Kevin Coburn
