My name is Kevin Dean

I'm a freedom lover who currently lives in Maryland and works a stone's throw away from DC (not a fan of that!).

I'm a voluntaryist and an agorist so I'm particularly fond of the level and type of activism in Keene. I've taken a day trip up and fallen in love with Keene itself and am currently working on building the needed support (which is a nice way of saying "saving money") infrastructure to make my move.

Got a target date yet?

I could pretend I'm just getting around to this, but I'm not.

My wife is beginning to hate her job. Or, more specifically, hanging around a voluntaryist is an empowering thing. She's seeing more and more of her own potential, and more and more seeing her current company/management as a restriction on that potential. We seriously discussed the idea of moving to New Hampshire "sooner rather than later".

Lindsay signed up for the FSP as of today, which is about as "official" as it gets in my eyes and depending how her vacation to California (family) and her final ultimatum to the company goes… We'll see. I don't have much hope (of course, I didn't have much hope she'd sign up for the FSP either…) that it'll be this year, but early-to-mid next 2009 seems possible.

Good luck!  8)

Have you guys visited NH? I did, for the Liberty Forum in 2007, and was blown away by the friendliness of the liberty-oriented people around me (not to mention the number of similarly-minded people!). Maybe if your wife was exposed to the personal aspect, she'd be less reluctant to move here.

In any case, good luck!

Yeah, we've been up there. Visited the Monadnock area back in April, hung out with Lauren and Jim and Ivan and Puke during a brew thingamajig and then met a bunch of guys for Social Sunday. My wife loved it, and for the first time felt excited being able to speak freely without fear and having an "audience" that was receptive for her.

The problem hasn't been reluctance to move to New Hampshire. I think she fell in love with Keene too. It's less "don't wanna move there" and more "don't wanna give up what I've got now". She's seeing now that there's more potential within herself and she feels that to achieve it, she needs to move on. With all of that on the table, the move is less "disruption" and more "advancement" now.

I felt the exact same thing.

Ah, I see. Well, I hope she starts to think that what she has now just doesn't compare to what she can have surrounded by like-minded people. Again: good luck.
