There are spammers who create an account with a link to a website just to bump up their priority in searches. There are hundreds of accounts like this. These are most likely created by bots-- automated programs that create accounts and/or make posts, usually many, many accounts and posts all over the web.
As for spammers who make one post, again, probably bots, moderators get those reported to us on an almost daily basis. We ban the posters and delete those posts all the time.
