Live Free and Love Life!

I am an artist, writer, and resident of the NH Seacoast. I found the forum when Carla Gericke linked it on Facebook, and I like the idea of Liberty minded folks in one forum.
I am for Homeschooling, Unschooling, and peace. And I embrace the concept "Grow Food, Not Lawns".

Hey, thanks for coming to help tend the Seacoast forum - it needed some help!

Hello iPat.
I am going to be doing some neighborhood scouting with my girlfriend this January, we're both originally from RI and can't stand to live without seafood, waves, boats, and beaches so we're going to be looking at some seacoast towns.

Admittedly I've been kind of lacking on the forum here (I posted my original HELLO but that's been about it. Grad school takes up a lot more time than I thought it would) but I hope to be alive down in the Seacoast forum.

I also recently joined the facebook group NH Seacoast Liberty (https://www.facebook.com/groups/127711843973459/).  Are you on there?

Cheers,
-Adam

Hi, (Adam)- DH & I came from L.I. and totally understand the requirement for tides and other coastal aesthetic basics. I note from your other reply that you teach physics. Dover is not the most budget-friendly place to start out in, around here, but it has an amazing array of terrain and living situations. You note possibly going on austerity, rather than work across state borders, and we felt that way too, so I understand. Dover housing may be an indulgence in that scenario. In comparison, Newmarket has a true New England feel, with some gorgeous areas, a handy downtown, and lower housing prices. (UNH students and transplants tend to go there). It has been a little bit gentrified recently, and looks quite inviting to DINKS, IMO. (double income,no kids). Due to its location at the far western end of the estuary, the drive to Port and to Newington (malls, I95 access to Boston and Maine) which is not as quick as might be wished for, Newmarket can seem a little out of the way, but a good dollar value, esp. when starting out. I'm pretty sure they don't fluoridate their water, too. (one of my personal issues…)
FYI, (and this is coming from an ex-New Yorker) World's best Pizza alert! Durham House of Pizza, over between Dover and Newmarket! DHOP- in the downtown Durham (UNH)–their Mediterranean is heavenly, but we just started having some plain cheese…OMG. It's the crust.
aaaaah. we're talking Quality of Life here!
If you have any more general questions…happy to help! Pat
