Hello Liberty-lovers.
I’m a twenty-seven year old guy from Australia, interested in Liberty, and always looking to see how other people do it.
Australia is a bit different from the U.S. Our police are a good lot really, they are impeccably polite and don’t much care for shooting people. Cannabis is sort of illegal but no one ever gets arrested, partly because the police can’t be bothered, and partly because they know the judge will just Aquit anyway. We are a common law jurisdiction based on Magna Carta which means that the government (the Crown) is in practice powerless to infringe significantly on personal freedom. On the other hand they can tax as much as they like (top tax bracket 49%, I pay 38% and don’t even earn that much). We have a gargantuan welfare state which in the context of post-war baby boom followed by rising infertility means essentially a transfer of wealth from the young to the old as previous generations close off social services once they themselves have consumed it (my parents went to university for free where I paid for my own degree). I am really interested in the U.S. Notion of economic liberty, agorism and free markets.
Planning to visit NH in your summer, would love some contacts.
Dane Laman.
