Hello fellow liberty lovers!
My name is Maximus (a.k.a. "Max") Peto. I am currently 30 years old, and work in longevity research. You can easily Google my name and learn quite a bit about me by reading the search results. I have purposely made this personal information available, so that other people can perform their own research and rational evaluation of my character, so they can reasonably decide for themselves (as all sovereign, self-responsible individuals do) whether they want to interact with me.
Here are some summary descriptions of me and my current work from those search results:
From my Google+ profile: https://plus.google.com/u/0/104584573318108937134/about/p/pub:
"Maximus Peto studies biochemistry, longevity, politics, economics, efficiency, creativity, rationality and heterologous protein expression. He is currently (2012) working as a science literature analyst for SENS Foundation, after previously spending 2 years as a biochemical researcher at the SENS Foundation's Research Center in Silicon Valley on LysoSENS and OncoSENS. Generally, Max focuses much of his effort on extending the maximum, healthy human lifespan. He was previously an accountant and college accounting instructor, and holds a BBA in Finance, an MBA in Management, and a BA in Biochemistry (less 3 Spanish courses)."
My LinkedIn profile: http://www.linkedin.com/pub/maximus-peto/34/837/436
In addition to the above, I am an ardent supporter of the reduction of gov't intervention in individuals' lives, and very encouraging of individuals increasing their self-responsibility, independence, and self-sovereignty. I have been strongly convinced of the value of these in the effort of each individual to maximize his/her lifetime happiness ever since studying this topic at http://selfsip.org/, which I recommend to all of you, if you're interested in learning more.
My current situation is that I am employed in a full-time capacity and work remotely from any office (i.e. work from home). As such, I now am able to choose where I want to live, while remaining fully employed. New Hampshire has interested me for a few years now, partly because it is the state chosen for the Free State Project, partly because of its low-zero income taxes, and partly because some of the states laws are more liberal than many other states. As such, I am currently interested in visiting New Hampshire this Summer (perhaps in the next few weeks) to experience it a bit for myself, to help me decide whether I want to locate there permanently.
Today I spent some time studying freekeene.com, and am very happy and excited at the community liberty-activism in Keene, so much so that I'm seriously considering purchasing or building a home there. But first, I need to learn of the city and its inhabitants myself. So I am registering at this forum, and posting right now, with an interest in finding short-term (2-4 week) living arrangement in or around Keene.
I am currently living in Syracuse, NY (yes, NY, I know :'() - ~4.5 hours from Keene. I am very interested in renting an inexpensive room in/around Keene for 2-4 weeks, at which I will only stay intermittently, making the drive back and forth from Syracuse to Keene (and back) to continue some of my work here in Syracuse that I must occasionally be present for. The initial advertisement on this forum that inspired me to post this introduction is here: http://forum.shiresociety.com/housing/keene-room-for-rent-starting-61-for-$350-with-flexible-termsoptions/ and I'm interested to know whether it is still available.
While in/around Keene (once I establish the place for me to stay), I intend to meet some of you here on these forums, get to know you and let you get to know me. I enjoy hiking and jogging, so I will look around Keene for parks and hiking/jogging trails. I also run a business (just R&D for now), so I will also be investigating the real estate available in Keene, along with the zoning laws there. I also have a strongly liberty-minded, long-time friend of mine who I currently live with, and she wants to visit Keene with me, because she, too, is excited that there is a community of rational, liberty lovers in Keene.
Hoping to hear from you soon! Please do not hesitate to contact me with questions (e.g. to vet me, my personality and my values - these are all reasonable, as I am considering living very near to you, and it makes sense to learn about someone who wants to live near you!). But in general, if/when I locate to Keene, I will be doing so with an active interest in participating in some of your admirable liberty-enhancing activities (or even creating my own!).
Warmest regards,
–Maximus Peto
Hello Max.
There is something wrong with your Google link. It 404's
I noticed that cutting everything after the 7134 makes it work, so I tried to fix it for you but was unsuccessful.
So anybody who wants to see it, just click the link and erase everything after the 7134 and refresh.
How is the diy treadmill desk working out?
I am thinking of putting one together.

Hi Jerry,
Whoops! I wondered if the copy-paste would work. Thanks for the note. I've had a difficult time getting that to work for others.
Here is another attempt: https://plus.google.com/u/0/104584573318108937134/about

Hi Blackie,
I love the DIY treadmill desk. I had one for about a year in California, then for another 6 months while I was in Michigan for the past 6 months. I find that it's great for the lots of computer work I do - I stay more focused, while getting extra exercise. It's great for reading and typing, but fine motor control (e.g. w/ mouse) is more difficult.
I usually just buy a used one from Craigslist. I bought my last one in Toledo Ohio for $50.

Hello and welcome. What a thorough introduction!
I would recommend coming up for Porcfest if possible. It's a great excuse to come see NH and meet a bunch of people from across the state. http://porcfest.com
Glad you appreciated the detail in my intro
Thanks for the suggestion.
Yes, I'm currently making plans with a friend to go to Porcfest. Do you know of many people who are going? Perhaps we can share a campsite? I understand Roger's is now full?
I see there are a few places near Carroll.

Hi Max –
You sound a lot like me – except 15 yrs older and 1.5 hrs closer to Keene.
I too and looking to establish residency, add "1" to the FSP ticker, and visit 1 or 2 weekends a month June thru Dec, and again starting in May 2014. Since we will likely not overlap, if you find a room/house you'd like to share, consider me. Non-smoker, non-partier, generally happy Single male.
Sam.
Hi Sam,
Thanks for the note. Yes, that is an interesting possibility you suggest.
My planning has actually changed. Rather than stay 2-4 weeks, I'm now considering staying long-term in Keene, and just commuting to Syracuse when I need to be here for work.
I have found a room I'm excited about. If you're interested, and my landlord and roommates are OK with it, perhaps you will consider paying me a small fee to stay in my room for those few weekends per month?
I'll PM you with more questions.
–Max
Expect about 1500 people at Porcfest this year! :o :o
I'm going - and very excited!
