Introduction and question about the concept of community

Hello all.

Let's just say I am a person who doesn't have life commitments that would prevent me from relocating if needed.  However, I am curious about the Shire Society.  I did read the pledge and it looks promising, but I am curious how it is doable in reality, as far as having community goes.

For myself, I need to find a place to plug in, and have severe financial restrictions that limit my ability to relocate now and do it.  I, while possessing an advanced degree, have had prolonged unemployment, and am back again to the place of unemployment.  I am trying to say just enough to get the point across without airing dirty laundry.

I guess maybe the best thing I can do is ask this: Where in a non-coercive community is there the ability to help someone get out of a hole they may of fallen into, and get on the right path?  Yes, maybe the hole was their fault, but is there some way to help someone get out of it?  Exactly how does charity work?

Anyhow, I could go on more.  It was suggested I join this forum to express my questions and find someone to talk to.
