Introducing myself

  1. Tell us about yourself.
27 years old, broke, wanting to be part of a community that values human life and voluntary non violent social interactions over profit, accumulation of wealth and labor exploitation. My skills include writing computer code/web design… meaning like once i'm given a language and a computer that understands it, i can go nuts. but as far as the technical aspects of it… might need some help. Of course I'm always willing to learn new skills, in the past i've been a professional driver (car service)…I'd say my main export is ideas. i'm constantly trying to think outside the box and critically evaluate the best course of action. i'm a musician, can play bass, drums, guitar, and keyboards(piano)…

    2.  Why are you here?
I'm interested in helping to bring about a voluntary society free from the violence of the state, and I have a lot of different ideas on how to get there. I just read FarmGirl's post from before, it was the only thread i've read on this site so far, and its clear the people here are the cream of the crop as far as intelligence and liberty are concerned. very much enjoyed every person's input on that thread.

    3.  How did you find the Shire Society?
Well I was looking for a place to move to, so i searched the internet for states with the most freedom oriented people/smallest amount of government, and somehow stumbled upon the free state project, so i took a month off from my jobs between thanksgiving and christmas, drove 6 hours up to new hampshire and decided to check it out for myself. Met some good people (you guys may remember me, james jackson is not my real name) and i just today for the first time decided to take a look at these forums and register here. Planning on moving up to Keene sometime pretty soon, before the end of March.

Welcome, though I'd caution against moving while broke.  You need to be able to support yourself while you settle in and find work.

Oh really? I thought I was just going to mooch off of everyone, providing nothing in return.
Not everyone can be a talk radio host and afford things like Liberty Forum.
Besides, I didn't mean literally broke, of course I have some money. I'm just not some stupid rich tourist, hopefully that wasn't what you viewed me as. I kinda thought the whole point here was to get everyone OFF the federal reserve notes as soon as possible, not celebrate the fact that we still need to use them. Anyways… keep up the good work with free talk live, and good luck getting elected to the schools. I would suggest pretending to be a statist, and lying to the public about your true intentions in order to increase your chances of getting elected. (That's what successful politicians do.) But that might be impossible if people already know who you really are. Oh well.

Well, I am not going to lie, but thanks for the best wishes.

I was only cautioning you because some people have moved up in the past expecting to live off the generosity of the community and have really burned people on being helpful.  Just making sure you know what to expect.  Glad to know you'll be prepared.

Obviously, we don't want to welcome people who are broke as that would encourage other broke people to come up.

There was someone who came up and thought we'd have a job lined up for him and a place to stay.  He found out the hard way that he needed to take care of himself.

What are your best programming languages?

They're all the same really, and any internet tutorial can help you get past the differences between each, but in the past I've used C++, and for web design javascript and php. I just need some help with the more technical aspects of it, like compatibility with different type of machines, making fancy graphics appear, etc. If i'm given a language and understand how it works, i can make the computer do things. if you know any liberty minded programmers around, let me know.

Cool. I just completed an online beginner PHP class and will move to intermediate in the near future. Ive always been stuck at "basic" level of any coding, though i got through Java 2 at KSC. Lol.

cool
