Well, first off my name is David and I currently live in Huntsville, AL.
I found this site awhile back while browsing the interwebs for information I was intersted in, mainly rights being taken and the police state, some videos on youtube i believe from Ian brought me here.
I am a FSP signer.
I plan on moving to NH by 2014, or sooner hopefully contengent on paying the state some extortion monies they say I owe them or they will put me in a cage.
I am looking into Keene specifically because my major complaint about anywhere I have lived is the lack of activities. I tend to stay to myself but thats mainly because I am vocal about my beliefs and it seems to me that alot of people think im a nut or something. Depending on where conversation steers. The activity level in Keene is excellent and the weather, well, I'll deal with that for the pros outweigh it by far.
I will be needing informaion on the real estate market there. stuff like what neighborhoods are good, what schooling options are available (have a daughter that is about to start school this fall, and its scary that I am going to have to use the govt schools because I cant afford more. she is very smart and i wonder if private schools offer scholarships??) i am wanting to buy a house, maybe even a duplex or triplex. i own a home in alabama to use to assist the relocation, so i have to nail down logistics. will need help, thats why im trying to reach out and network early.
i am also interested in starting a business. i would like something that would offer jobs to new movers to help them out a little bit, but not sure how to go about it. i will have some capital to use towards the efforts wherever i move, i cant be frontline but i would love to, i cannot afford even a misdemeanor, at least right now.
im starting to rant, so i hope i have qualified as an acctual person and not a spammer.
anyone that cares to reply with questions or anything i would love to talk about the fsp and anything about my move, thanks!
david
I will not be able to make porcfest 2011, though myself and family want to come up so badly, its just not financially possible this year… were making plans for 2012… would like to book a pad at rogers asap for 2012, not sure the dates though, when i hear them, i want at least a water/elec site for the week… hope to have a small rv by then as well…

Hello and welcome. See the housing subforum for useful real estate links: http://housing.freekeene.com
Buying a duplex or triplex and owner occupying is a smart move in Keene. The taxes are killer on a single family home.
If you are looking for a school for your young daughter I would not recommend Keene. I have heard from local families that the public schools here leave a lot to be desired, especially the middle and high schools. There are a few private schools but I don't know about what kind of scholarships they would be offering. Do you know about the schools that have been started by liberty people? I can't remember what part of New Hampshire they were in but they're definitely not in Keene.
Scholars Academy …manchester?

That school was closed down.
You can live in Keene, or the immediate Keene area, and take advantage of the Surry Charter School, Trinity Christian (good scholarships & payment plans), or, a little further away, the Jaffrey-Rindge schools.
thanks guys for all the information to look into. as far as schools, i was interested in homeschooling or unschooling somewhat. i have not done too much research into the alternatives, but something like a home school co-op would be excellent, we both have time and knowledge to give to other peoples children as well. i really like all of the activity going on, but yeah maybe i could live say 30-45 minutes away and still participate.
on another note, i have been looking into trying to link up with more people in my current area that believe the same ways i do. i hear quite a few people call FTL from my town, but have no clue how to attempt to bring those people together. i am not big on going to the tea party things because i dont believe what they do. i believe they are simply a republican sect and the republicans here are quite corrupt and power hungry. they robbed me 4 years ago and i still havent been able to recover the thousands of dollars of property they still are holding illegally, but thats another story. all on the net, fought this crap in indiana up to supreme court level on good faith between law enforcement agencies and the 4th amendment… THAT was quite an experience, and not over…

ian, i know you did the same and would have quite a grasp on such things… can you tell me is the porcupine realtor can help with finding those? i went to his site awhile back that i heard on FTL and it was basically just a political campaign that he was running at the time i suppose, but nothing about buying land or buildings? weird huh. anyway, would like a starting place to look for housing. i would hate to sell my house i just got, but its in the wrong state… maybe i can rent my current house? could you not rent in florida or choose not to?
david
Mark Warden is great, but he doesn't live around here. I'd recommend Robin Smith with the Masiello Group if you are looking in the Keene area.
I rented in Florida while I tried to sell my house. I do not like being away from my rental property. If you have a trustworthy manager and can make it work financially, you may want to keep it for the rental income.

You mean the Honorable Mark Warden
Man, if all state reps were as awesome as him, this state would be the best place to live in the world!

It already is for me :) What place is better ?
But yeah, he isn't in Keene so I recommend using someone near Keene if someone is thinking about looking in Keene.

Why not set up a tentative meetup account and then email or call the show with a shout-out to a meetup for FTL listeners in your area?

We don't do shout-outs, so that won't work too well.
Can you imagine how awful it would be if people called in and just announced local meetings and such? Who would want to listen to that?
Guess his only option then is to brave the bbs forum, or not use ftl for that kind of networking. I do niw remember hearing that back when I used to listen, sorry.
