If they don't vote to stay, then they're gone

In the midst of the divide in American politics, a new idea has been floated.
Let states have to vote in order to stay in the union… if they vote not to stay, they are automatically “seceded” from the union.

So I did a search for “secession” (national divorce pulled up too many articles about “divorce”).
For just the last week this is what I got.

Interestingly, the literacy rate correlates well with the educational attainment data from the census.
One of the things I looked at before moving to NH was the levels of formal education in all the states
Only Vermont surpassed NH in that respect (at that time).
