I agree with your motivations

but in all honesty, I just wanna be able to bring my little girl onto the common in the afternoons. So in all reality, your demonstrations are hampering my freedom. Pleas pick a better spot.

Hi handsome grandson,

Thanks for taking the time to come here and post. Do you realize that most of the people downtown at all hours of the daylight are not, what you would call, "Free Keeners"? They seem to be of high school and slightly above age, and not associated with people on this forum.

Was there a specific demonstration that you didn't like?

I also wish the group would pick a better spot.

Unfortunately, the people involved with this – both the handful of activists and the unruly "juggalo" crowd – spend little or no time on this forum, so I have little influence over that. At least, not when I'm posting here.

I did notice that there was a group of Keene citizens reforming (because they didn't want to call it "reclaiming") Central Square. They seemed pretty nice. Maybe you should help them reform it.
I didn't see when they got there, but I'm guessing it was about 3:30 or 4 pm. I'm sure they'd be glad to have more reformers.
It was also much nicer earlier today than it has been lately, even though, oddly, the marijuana activism was still going on in the background.

It's hard to tell who is who. If you are not the right group, I apologize, maybe you can help the people reclaim this area. Thank you for your  response! My political views are that of a conservative libertarian, and i feel small gov't is the way to go. Keep it up! PS, screw the juggalos!

It is hard. And, to make it harder, the central square activists would probably identify themselves with this site, even though they don't blog here and rarely/never frequent the forums. (Actually, I haven't been keeping close track of who's doing what lately, so there might be a few who are semi-active here.)

Oddly, it's gotten to the point where most people involved with the site don't seem to be anything like the stereotypical "Free Keener". … Though I'm sure at least one of the bloggers will always record rowdy activist events and post the video on the blog, probably with some kind of positive spin. It just wouldn't be Free Keene otherwise.  :duh:

Just because there are young people down there doesn't mean  it's BAD : did you try going down there or are you just afraid?..
I am down there daily  and  it's pretty mellow 99% of the time

David, perhaps he doesn't have a problem with their age, but with what they're doing  :o >derp<

Perhaps.  I've only lived in / visited Keene for around 5 years but when I was at the square recently, I noticed more trash then I've ever seen there before.  There is something going on at the square and it's causing a noticeable increase in the amount of trash on the ground.

On the ground or walking around ???

reread what i said  "i'm down there daily and it is pretty mellow 99% of the time"

Read selectively much?
also what is  ">derp<"  and how is it helpful?

I guess  part of my position is that I think people are blowing things out of proportion and  it's making people more fearful. Meaning the I think hype is far exceeding the reality.
I think the fear may make people over react .
Like I said I was down there today and AM down there daily and  there is not much going on

Maybe you are a part of the problem.

I'm just sayin'

@blackie,
Maybe if you go to central square  you will quit talkin out of your ass (i doubt  it but at least you will be a more informed person who talks out of his ass) .

Hey Keif, you may want to split the "lived in / visited Keene" into two different statements as they are not the same thing and may be misleading to people that don't know you. Living in Keene is much different than visiting Keene. You actually moved to Keene sometime in mid to late 2009 so that'd be around two years you've lived here, not five, right?

super surf …whatever,
When i see your picture  that flashes different people and Ian holding their arms out  it makes me think your a nut and shouldn't be paid attention to

I believe someone can get an accurate measurement of trash and garbage in a city without actually living there.  The difference is less samples to consider.

Actually Tim, you are just trolling me for the sole purpose of being annoying / funny / silly.  I don't mind and think it's funny.  Or, are you telling me that on the day I wrote that post, Central Square was not dirty compared to how you typically have seen it in the past
