My name is Brandon. I'm currently in the great socialist state of california. When I found the podosphere (the world of podcasting) I re-found my love of science. Self education quickly became an important thing to me. I eventually heard of the ideas of libertarianism on a show called Quick Hitts. The ideas seemed pretty damned reasonable so I started looking up liberty related shows and found Free Talk Live. It was all uphill from there.
So I listened to more and more podcasts absorbing more and more information (my job requires no social interaction. 8 straight hours of info 5 days a week straight into my brain) and in my spare time read more and more philosophy. The more educated I became the more the reality of the situation became apparent. New Hampshire is my only possible future.
Problem is I have a kid and his mother and I aren't together. I can't leave without him and I can't take him from his mother. I may very well have to wait until my son is old enough to be on his own (another 12-15 years from now). I know she is not that into the idea of raising her son in california, so maybe I can get there sooner. Either way, I'll be there someday.
You could probably convince her… Especially if you work the "better environment for the kid" angle. (might not want to mention the topless protests right away.
