Hi everyone, joined the Free State Project and would love to move eventually. I am married with 2 kids and voted for Ron Paul in the 08 election. Wanting to live close to the coast maybe Portsmouth or just south of there. Anyone who knows the rent ranges in this area please let me know. We would hope to eventually buy a few acres in a rural part but within 10-15 minutes of the ocean. Thanks for your help!
Looking forward to posting!
Hello,
You may want to check with Mark Warden at markwarden.com - he's a porc realtor.
This is a Keene-specific forum so you may not find much relevant info here.
Congrats on your move in advance.
The closer you get to the coast, the more expensive it is.
If you're willing to drive a little further to hit the water, you can dramatically reduce your cost of living. We're about 45 minutes from Portsmouth, and have (lake) beaches right here in town if we want water but don't feel like driving. And it costs a lot less than living near the ocean.
But, as Ian notes, this forum isn't the best one, since Keene is on the opposite side of NH.
The Underground is often the most general place to get info.

thanks for the info… honestly as small as NH is a lake nearby would be fine. I am used to driving an hour and a half to work (one way) so I don't think it is too much of a big deal as long as I am near water that can be swam in
as for the Keene specific forum, this was recommended to me as one of the most active and I do plan on being active in the FSP and NH politics if we move so I thought this was a good starting place.
I may not post much because I am not much of a message board person but it is nice to have a place to meet people active in NH politics. I am open to moving to any area of the state but would prefer the southern half over the northern and the eastern half over the west. I just need to be outside of town in a rural area with water nearby

Lots of lakes in NH. From the big ones like Winnipesaukee to small ponds, and most anything in between. I grew up on the coast, so I don't like being so far from the ocean that I can't visit it conveniently, but I like being inland a bit for comfort; gets a bit hectic in the summer, on the coast.

It is. Just not for the housing side of things, given your criteria. As I said, I'm fairly close to the coast, and I still visit here because of all the cools stuff they have going on.

The board's not nearly so active, but for state level politics, check out nhliberty.org. They have ratings for each state rep and senator, districting, and reviews of every bill introduced, as well as lots of great information for those thinking about running for office.
