It took me a few minutes to figure out how to post my intro. Think I finally found it!
I have been looking for like-minded community, a place where I can live happy and feel safe. I came across this website through infowars.com. Also have a friend who has an active friend in NH, and it's been on my mind for some time to check the state out.
I read many entries that gives me a good idea of the area and people. One thing I found a bit puzzling was so much emphasis on corporate stores and restaurants. I'm looking for locally owned businesses, and locally produced healthy, organic food. Wondering if there is any there?
I've lived many places. I'm in NJ now. Would like to journey up there to have a look around and hopefully meet some wonderful family I have yet to meet, maybe during this summer.
So, if anyone could fill me in on my question concerning locally owned businesses and health food, I'd appreciate it. Also like to see people getting together for drum circles, to jam with electronic instruments (I play drum kit), for all kinds of chatting and artistic endeavors. Is there much activity along those lines on a regular basis? Is it the kind of place if you are out and about in town you will run into many people you know and love?
Thanks for any answers that may be coming
Welcome to the forum Subabu.
If you can you should try to attend Porcfest. You would be able to meet allot of the like-minded folks from the area.

Welcome
hug
Blueberry Fields is an organic and health food store. I believe they carry a lot of locally-produced goods. There are also a number of little local shops in Keene that I believe carry locally-produced things.
Welcome!
Thanks Chris. I'll check the date again and see if I would be able to make it.
Highline, thanks for the welcoming hug!
Dalebert, thanks for the good news info.
I love the community I see on the forum. All you people rock!

Don't forget the farmers market every Tuesday & Saturday. Also, I believe the Co-op that took 5K from the city will be opening in the future.
Hello Subabu and welcome. I presume you are referring to the 130+ reasons to move to Keene.
#2 under "shopping and food" is Plenty of locally owned businesses of all varieties." I don't name names, because you won't know them, and there are many. Naming the corporate stores shows that Keene is big enough to have those companies here. Chain businesses, while they may be less-than-attractive to you do offer a sense of consistency for others. Some people like to know that when they move somewhere they will have familiar stores in which to shop.
Blueberry fields, the local organic store was listed on the list. I'm always interested in suggestions, but if I start listing all the local businesses, I'll leave some out, inevitably, so better to just let people know there are plenty here so they can discover them for themselves, I think. Sorry for the confusion.
Hello Subabu and welcome to the forum! Keene is a small town and the commons are a popular draw for people so running into people I know happens fairly frequently. Also with the many weekly events and gatherings planned, there are many chances to hang out with people you know and love.

last I heard of it in the newspaper it was at least two years off. the 5K was for a committee to be selected to figure out how to find out how to find out if the people want a co-op.
I can only eagerly await such news, as it is muchly a page-turner.
I would like to say first I enjoy your pod cast I just discovered it a few days ago and it's a relief to hear thoughtful discussion without hearing about FEMA camps, The New World order, micro chips, how the elite want to out suck our brains and turn us into Zombies, chem trails, and other wackos.
Your talk on education was right on I think one of good things to come out of economic issues we're having it it's forcing young people to put some thought into what they're going to do. You'll be surprised with how many people I work with who have four-year degrees and are doing the same job I'm doing with only two years of college. Keep up the good work I'm going to make it a point to toss a couple of bucks your way before July.
