Hi Everyone,
My name's Caitlin (stats: 25, BA in English, ex-liberal, looking forward to skiing more). I'm a Massachusetts native who's looking to move to Keene in the very near future. I've been listening to Free Talk Live for about two years now and I'm a member of the Free State Project. I've got the suspicion that I'm about to be laid off from my job on Friday and I'm looking at it in a positive light because that means that I have the perfect opportunity to move early to NH.
When I do, I really want to be involved as much as possible. I'm a writer, so I'd love to be involved with liberty-oriented literature/rhetoric but I'm also looking forward to the nitty-gritty activism - anywhere and everywhere I'm needed.
So, right now I'm trying to figure out housing and job opportunities. I'm pretty scrappy and I'm planning on moving up with just a backseat of my few belongings and shacking up wherever and working wherever until I figure things out.
So hello and what's going on? Does anyone have any advice/ opportunities that I might be able to take advantage of? Looking forward to meeting you all in Keene!
Welcome! What type of work would you be looking for should you move to Keene?
Welcome! ;D
I escaped myself from MA back in 2007. Worked in Cambridge at the time. Romney’s compulsory healthcare was my last straw.
Welcome and once you get settled don't hesitate to start your own activism. There's already lots here, but we need more ideas and action!
Make sure to check the jobs and housing subforums here for possible opportunities.
Hi Caitlin
COG: I'm looking for something creative when it comes to work, but I know that's hard to come by so I'm also open to all sorts of stuff. I have experience in demolition (and putting up dry wall and data cables), b2b marketing, higher ed administration, accounts payable, reception, website design, office coordination, waitressing, hostessing, teaching, anything with customer service… I've always been employed since I was 13 so I've had plenty of experience in a load of things. Plus I'm a fast learner. Ultimately I want to be a writer, but I've accepted that barring a miracle I'll have to do that on my own time.
J'raxis: I know, isn't it rediculous??? And then he ran for president. Massachusetts is completely insane. I almost lost two good friends recently because I told them I wasn't for nationalized health care. Two of my best friends were so mad I thought they would never speak to me again because I thought the plan was a bad idea. Granted, we'd all had a few, but still… that's how much indoctrination everyone's taken in. The mindset is so hard to break.
That said, every second I get more excited about moving to a place where other people get where I'm coming from.

Oh my, I'm just a man with a microphone. My shit stinks too!
Hey, will you set your gender on your forum profile? The current male-to-female ratio is 6.8:1. You setting your gender will help drop that number. Thanks in advance!
Double welcome because you are a lady. 8)
We need more lady activists in Keene!
Welcome to the forums Caitlin. I am looking for reporters/journalists to work on the paper. If you are interested send me a PM and I'll give you more information.
Cool. The more the merrier.
Welcome to the forum!
I was contracted out to Draper for a year and lived in Cambridge. Welcome!
Welcome, CaitSquid! Your list of experience is impressive. You shouldn't have much problem finding a job - in or out of the system. I look forward to meeting you, even if that implies that I look forward to your being laid off.
Welcome!
I grew up in Cambridge, and as nice a place as it is, I'm sure you'll enjoy Keene.
I work in Cambridge and often spend the night here to avoid commuting hassles. It is a nice place but NH is home and where I would rather be.
