Hello All,
Thanks for having me on your forum. I've been lurking around for awhile but thought it was time I contributed.
A little background:
I live in Weare NH and am in my early 40s. NH has been my home since 2006 or so although I used to live here back in High School. I moved away for college and while I was in the Navy and ended up mainly in Massachusetts until I just couldn't put up with the nanny state down there any longer.
My politics could be described as libertarian I suppose, but like most people I don't follow any party line.
Some of my hot button issues are 2nd Amendment activism and government accountability. We as a country need to return to the principles that our founders held.
I look forward to getting to know some of you.
Welcome. Did you see this event in Weare? http://forum.freekeene.com/index.php?topic=4994.msg51687#msg51687
No, I didn't see that. If I'm around I'll stop by.
Chief Begin is a funny cat. Personally, he can be nice as anyone. I went in to get prints taken for a PA CCW permit app and he and I talked for a while.
But professionally? The guy shouldn't be running a lemonade stand much less a police department.
When they recently arrested BikerBill for taping I sent an email to our Selectmen asking them to look into it (as well as not returning the camera equipment of other activists). That kind of shit pisses me off to no end. No one was harmed, so who cares?
Anyway, here was one response I got:
[quote]Dear Mr. XXX
Thank you for your brief but comprehensive description of the issue. I appreciate the efforts and actions of activists, individually and collectively, to protect our individual rights in a free society. The roll of government should be to protect these rights, but as we have seen, government can abuse these rights. Abuse of power in any form is not acceptable, especially at the local level, especially by the police department.
The Board of Selectmen were previously apprised of this issue and as a result of your e-mail I will request a meeting with the Chief regarding the return of personal property.
I support Chief Begin and the men and women of the police department, but it is not unconditional. I will review each complaint based on its merits. I try to make decisions on the issue not the individual, on principal not the person.
Sincerely,

Still waiting to get an update.
