Hello

Hello to all,

My name is David. I am moving to the Manchester area as soon as I get the offer on the house I am after and the house closes sometime in mid-to-late November. I believe myself to be a jack of many trades, and hope to share some of my skills with people who might value my thinking contributions to our individual good through my choice to help; not through coercion. I am a slightly token odd ball by many standards; for example I still own my first piece of silver barter I purchased years ago: A $20 Liberty Dollar Silver coin that I paid $25 for. It's quite a world-shattering event to see an equivalent coin selling for $45 today.

I hail from Portland Oregon, the hometown of the "anarchist" girl who has recently been incarcerated (in a McCarthyism manner)  for not testifying to the "grand jury." In general, my area is grossly entrenched in Statism to such a suffocating and isolating degree I generally do not have any legitimate friends – I refuse to associate with people who advocate violence upon others for some supposed "public good" be they a banker, a person of different melanin content than I, or a person of a particular religion. I most closely fall into the "bin" of Objectivist Libertarian if a category is asked of me, but I do not think we should embrace labels as labels make for easy straw-men.

Initially, due to some personal hazards that have compelled me to speed up the move to NH, I had very little knowledge of this society of individuals. In a very short period, I learned of many groups who compose of the FSP. This led to learning about LRN.FM, then to FTL. FTL_Ian is a superb performer on the show, and through his activism for the Shire Society I have landed here. I'm still unsure what specifically the Shire Society is in a precise manner, and that is why I am on this forum now. I am still learning.

Cheers!

That's pretty cool. I started with the Liberty Dollar in 1998 when I was given one of the very first ones as a winter holiday gift from the guy running our Objectivist discussion group. I went on to found Shire Silver, which you should learn about if you aren't already familiar.

I've lived in Manchester, and you'll find a lot of like-minded folks there, including many natives. If you're on facebook there's several groups where most of the internet-based social activity and planning happens. But this isn't a bad place to get started connecting with folks.

Welcome.  To learn more about the Shire Society, just visit http://shiresociety.com - plenty of info there.

Congrats in advance on your move!
