Hello

Hello,

Well to begin with I will provide the required information. I am currently living outside of the Shire, although I am hoping to change that soon, and I do believe that the right of peace people to exist without aggressors against. I found the Shire Society from Free Talk Live.

Now to the big question, why am I here? This question has two answers, and in answering it I think why I am here, and who i am will become more clear.

First, in order to come to this forum and agree with these ideas one has to have a point of ex poser to the idea's of liberty. When I was younger I thought that liberty was something that was suppose to be protected by those that would call themselves the government.  This idea drove me to join the military and is the current reason that I am unable go to the Shire. I thought that in joining the military I would be part of something that was protecting liberty and expanding it through my "service". My first duty station began to make me question just what it was I am doing with my "service". I saw people that didn't really think about what it was we were doing, and how it was payed for. This planted a seed in my mind that their is a problem with this system that is currently in power. I took some leave to go home and see some friends of mine before I was sent to my next "duty station" coming into my fourth year in. My best friend had become interested in Austrian Economics and told me to look up Ludwig Von Mises to learn about his ideas about economics. Upon discovering the ideas of true free markets I ran into the show Free Talk Live. This show has pushed me to learn way more about the ideas of liberty. I am happy to report that in six months I will be free of the chains of "service".

Second, to understand the concept of free people to exist without being aggressed upon you have to see the gun in the room. This was how the seed was planted. When I was at my first "duty" station I was sent to virginia and I changed my license to that state because I was trying to get my motorcycle endorsement. About two week later I was driving a friend's car to him and got in to a car crash at low speeds. Thankfully no one in either vehicle was hurt. Both I and the driver in front of me had insurance and we were exchanging information when the Cops pulled up and issued me a citation for following to closely. Now I know I was in the wrong and I wasn't pay attention to what was going on in front of me. I payed my friend's deductible because I had caused the accident and also payed to have the other driver's car repaired. I went to the city clerks office and payed for the ticket and thought that the issue was over with. Six months later I was leaving a friend's house and got pulled over for my license plate light was out. The first officer informed me that all he was going to do was run my name, and give me a citation. Within about five minutes 6 other squad cars surrounded my car, and as one might expect I became very concerned about what was going on. The first officer returned to my window and informed me that my license was suspended. I was required to surrender my license and sign documentation to the fact. I was told that they could not tell me why it was suspended but that i would have to go to court about the issue. So I moved my vehicle at a safe spot and waited for some friends to come help me get my car home. I went to the DMV to find out why my license was suspended and was informed that I was required to go to a driver improvement course because of my accident and my age. I took the course and then went to court about the driving on a suspended. The Cop that initiated the traffic stop showed up and said that I was uncooperative and he feared for his safety so he called for back up. He also claimed that I didn't have a drivers license on me. I than showed the documentation that i had surrendered my license to the officer and that I had corrected the problem with the DMV. The judge said that she did care that I had corrected the issue and hit me with a big fine and court fees. Than I still had to pay the DMV another fine and a reinstatement fee. This is the gun I didn't see before, it was all with the threat of going to a cage by the state.

I am hoping as soon as my time in the military is over to move to the Shire and work toward a more peaceful society.

Sincerely,
Andy_V

Welcome.  There are other former military here as well.  Perhaps you can help with the counter-recruiting project?

I would definitely like to help with counter-recruiting. Do you know of any resources that I could look up to see what type of efforts are being done in this area?

Which area?

Counter-recruiting. Have members of the Society developed material for these efforts? or is this an area that needs someone to work on?

Nice to meet yas

Trust me once you shift to freedom you cannot ever cram your mind back into the cage.
These guys are walking the walk and in a very hostile environment and they are a great way to learn freedom Marc Stevens is another to show you the sheer scam of what so called law is today.

Welcome Andy! I too am former military! I have recently relocated to the Shire and I absolutely love it here! The activists in Keene are awesome! I do believe we need to develop some counter-recruiting flyers and information, but former military can testify as to why people should not be in the military. We really look forward to more and more people moving to the Shire! It is disheartening that so many of us have had negative experiences with the government. The more we can tell others what freedom and peace really is, the more we can be the change we want to see!

glad to hear more and more waking up
