Hello

My name is Daniel Marino. I am from Philadelphia and I am all about liberty. I would like to become more politically active and would like to take a trip Keene in the near future.

Hello Daniel. I just signed up here too. Have you ever been to New Hampshire?

No, I haven't. Though I hear it is one of the better states to live in liberty wise. I think that Keene is the kind of movement that the Libertarian party needs to expand. Its something I would like to be a part of.

I lived there for a time around 1980. Met my lovely bride up there. Beautiful place, and a lot of history.

I've been poking around these forums and one thing I see is New Hampshire is heavy on the property tax. As taxes go it is one of the 'more fair' ways to go. You could push the logic to one end and say if one man owned the whole town, he'd be on the hook for all the roads, bridges etc. Don't get me wrong, I don't see a need for taxation as any kind of 'funding source' for so called public good. Get rid of the federal reserve and institute an honest currency that isn't an end unto itself and there'd be plenty of whatever force available to accomplish needs.

For another rant I suppose.

I have spent some time around Philly, too. You still have the street cars that run on railroad track? Or have they gone to rubber?

Maybe one day we'll meet up there in the Granite State. If you're a city folk there'll be some adjustment getting used to small and mostly rural. But if you like nature there's plenty of fine that around up there.

Peace out, and good luck with everything.

Come on up!  Welcome!

Hey Dan!  Welcome to the forum.

There is lots of discussion about things going on…  and you should feel very free to jump in and give your opinion of things

Welcome!

Personally, if I had to choose one tax to have, it'd be sales tax, because it's more avoidable, and at least you can retire in peace.

It's great, though, that there's only one major form of taxes in NH. Harder to have creeping tyranny. I'd love to get rid of restaurant and business taxes too – that'd really be a big economic boost. But of course, even as is, it's far better than just about anywhere else in the country.

Anyhow, I spent my first 18 years in NH, and I can assure you that it's beautiful – I've lived quite a few places, and it's my favorite by far.

I'm from the suburbs but I have always had a love of nature. Pennsylvania is a jungle. New Hampshire I'm sure is beautiful. I would definitely agree that if there were a tax to pick it would be a sales tax. Tax your consumption not your production. I have always tired to be a proponent of free thought but people are so closed-minded it becomes difficult to get through to anyone. Thats what interests me about Keene. I'm looking for like-minded thinkers and I'm looking to organize and educate. The world will never change as long as so many people choose to blind themselves. I will definitely be taking a trip to Keene in the near future.

If you can I recommend taking going through upstate NY and taking route 7 to 9 through vermont, rather than coming up through Connecticut and massachusettes. It'll make your trip about 6 and a half hours rather than 5 and a half, but it'll be much more enjoyable.

Hey Dan, you know the Liberty on Tour guys are in Philly today.  You should totally go meet up with them.

What kind of liberty? What specifically do you want out of society, what do you want changed?

I have never heard of Liberty On Tour before. Do you think they will still be around this weekend?

What do I want to change? The abolishment of the Fed and reform of the US monetary system for starters. An end to social apathy. Re-establishment of community awareness. The Constitution of the United States of America being more than just a goddamn piece of paper.
