I'm Matt. I currently live in Raleigh, North Carolina, where I work as a web developer for a marketing and communications company. I enjoy gaming of all sorts, including board games, RPGs, and computer games. (I have my fingers crossed to become a SteamBox beta tester.) My preferred workout is parkour or MovNat, my preferred diet is low-carb paleo, and my preferred caffeine is Diet Dr. Pepper (aspartame and I get along). I have two cats, Lady Luck and Columbo.
I've been active for years as part of the LPNC, which is how I found out about Free Keene - I've been following the blog ever since. I'm here on the forum because I've decided to visit New Hampshire from Oct 14th through Oct 19th to check out the area and what the activism is like, in possible preparation for becoming an FSP mover.
Woooo! Welcome! We just had a client from NC close on a place in Deering last week, so you're in good company Enjoy your visit!
Excellent! Will you be visiting Keene during your trip? If so, let us know when and we'll get a group together to meet up with you.
Yes - I was thinking maybe the Tuesday night movie night? Not sure if that's a good place to meet people. I'm flexible and don't really have any hard and fast plans.
Not a good place for a first meeting. Just let us know when you'll be in town and we can set something up at a local restaurant. Also let us know if you have food preferences.
My current plan is to be in Keene Monday and Tuesday, but my plans are flexible enough for something Monday night or Wednesday night? Or alternatively, hit Keene at the end of my trip and stick around for Social Sunday?
I would try to plan it around some events in the various hot-spots, Keene, Manch, Nashua, Concord and the Seacoast. That way you can get a taste of each area. I'll try to compile a list of goings on that week, which everyone else can add to. I deal mostly with Facebook, so you'll have to pardon my heavy use of FB Events.
Also, there are a few things going on Sat. the 12th if you could come 2 days earlier.
Here are 3 things going on in Manchester

Gordon - I don't use Facebook, so I'm apparently unable to see those. If you can tell me when and where, I'll fit them in if I can. Thanks!

* One of the events is a comedian at a manchester bar with libertarian comedian Doug Stanhope. Oct 18, 2013 9:00 PM Tickets on sale at
http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/400763
* The other is an event for first time home buyers sponsored by porcupine real estate at the manchester private club 'the quill' (for events like this, the private club allows others in). It is 131 Amory St Manchester NH Oct 17th. 6 to 7 pm. If you pick this event, need to recognize that the location is not well marked other than street address so if you feel like you are going to the wrong place then you are at the right place
* The last is at Area 23, 875 Page Street, 2nd Floor, Manchester Oct 14th 6 to 8 pm. It is some sort of sword training related to the church of the sword. Yes you'd find it interesting even if this makes no sense.
Finally, I fully recognize the dozens of totally valid reasons to stay off of facebook - however I will also say that not having facebook makes connecting much much harder as events, updates, etc get posted there more than anyplace else. Forums like this are an ok alternative but simply lack the critical mass and simplicity of facebook. However, to the extent that you choose to remain off of facebook, you certainly are in good company with many others – you just may have a hard time figuring out who the others are.
Welcome Matt, I'm in Charlotte right now, moving to NH mid Dec!
Thanks Jeff_NH, I've got a ticket for Friday night. And congrats Pat!
