Hello from Deon

Hello,

I am Deon 42 year old black male born in Chicago & living in Wisconsin. I am a disenfranchised EX-felon. I committed federal crimes in 93. I was released from prison in 99 and finished probation in 2004. Having committed one crime in my entire life which was a pretty bad crime of bank robbery I feel like I have vindicated myself by living a crime free life after this offense.

Not to make excuses for my actions and poor decisions but the reason I made such a poor and criminal decision at that time is that my best friend was living on the streets and I was obviously to immature to realize that was not the way to get him out of his predicament. Not to mention that we were drunk when he suggested and we carried out this hair brained idea.

I was young fresh out of the navy and a college student at the time. I have and continue to pay a serious price for those wrong actions of two decades ago.

It has never sat right with me that after my paying "debt" to "society" that certain "rights" have been taken away from me forever.

I started researching the law and to find a way to restore my rights and came across a youtube video of Marc Stevens. Toward the end of the video he mentioned an organization called FreeKeene.

Upon researching FreeKeene it was plain to me it shares the same ideals and values I have about individuals and their rights to life, liberty, property, the pursuit of happiness (including self protection). Rights that the constitutions of the states and federal government claims to protect but routinely violate.

I was so impressed with FreeKeene and certain "laws" that the state of New Hampshire has, namely that jury nullification can be used openly in court.

So impressed in fact that I joined this forum and plan to move to Keene in the near future. I want to be one of the 20,000 to change Keene into a city for freedom lovers like myself

Hello Deon, I'm new to the forum myself. Glad to see you here.  8)

Welcome to our little "Club".
You remind me quite a bit of my roommate, so I can, to a certain extent, understand how you feel.
See ya…Dunker

Deon, welcome aboard!  Just to clarify, the Free State Project's goal is to move 20,000 liberty lovers across all of NH, so if Keene isn't right for you, there are many other possible destinations in NH, but we'd love to have you in Keene.

Frankly, all of NH and this liberty movement as a whole is in desperate need of some diversity.  (One of the downsides of NH is that it's too white.)

When do you plan to move?

On a larger topic, how can the liberty movement catch on among blacks?
