My name is David and I live in Granada Hills California. I was looking on making the move the the end of this year or the beginning of 2010 but that all changed when I got laid off in March. I am still very excited about moving to NH to be with fellow liberty lovers. The only issues I have right now are still trying to get back on my feet financially and researching the move and where the best place to move is going to be since I now work at Aflac. I am thinking I will make my initial move to Manchester and then once I am up and running with Aflac move to Keene. I am hoping to come visit in March for the Liberty Forum and maybe test the waters of Aflac in Keene while I am there. Anyway hope to make the move soon and make lots of new friends!

Cool. If you’re going to move to Manchester, there are a couple apartments available on Pine St., which is a 5–10min walk to Murphy’s Taproom. The other concentration of porcs, in the Wilson St.–Lake Ave. area, is about 10–15min in the other direction.
There’s a first-floor three-bedroom apartment for $250/wk + $1000 security deposit. Two freestaters already live on the third floor of this building. The next building over was recently renovated and also has a for-rent sign on the window—don’t know details. I can get the contact info for these places if you’re interested.
Cool. Not sure when Im going to make the move but I am hoping some time next year and I am thinking in the summer would be the best time to come, that way it will give me time to get clothes for the winter.
what's up D.Rabbit
Not much…just wish I could be in NH already! I am fed up with California!
Welcome to the forums!
Welcome David.
Glad to hear your coming to NH. Good luck in the job market.
Thanks! Not sure if im going to be able to make it out there for Liberty Forum. I will keep you posted on if I can make it.
grab the fam and move cold turkey!
It's my recommendation only because I did it, and there is no better time to do it than when you've lost your job.
Welcome, rabbit. Manch is only 75 minutes from Keene (NH is small compared to CA, where I'm from, too) so you should be able to easily seek jobs and residences anywhere once you're here.
Cant move…dont have the cash :'(…and I dont have a fam so its even easier…need a rent a uhaul truck and trailer for my car…priced it out and it would run me about 1500 to make the move. Right now I live at home so I have a roof over my head. and I am not looking for a hand out, im not a democrat
Consider whether it's worth it to bring all your furniture. I priced it out and it made no sense for me coming from CA. I sold my furniture for the cash and shipped some boxes of stuph after figuring out the value to weight ratio. The rest I sold or donated so I ended up with just one VW Beetle full of stuph to drive over and saved myself the cost of a truch which was substantial. Then you can just watch Craigslist to replace the furniture.
Dude, you live within about 30 minutes of me. We should go shoot some pool or grab dinner sometime, my treat.

Hey Paul…sent you a friend request on Facebook.

Dale has a good point you may be better off selling most stuff and driving east. If you are planning on moving next summer there will be plenty of yard sales to furnish your new digs on the cheap.
You will be better off moving less stuff and saving as much money as you can for the move. Having a job lined up before you get here is the best way to go.
Most people who move here find their whole world opens up. For most movers it is the first time that they are surrounded by a group of peers. You may move here planning on doing one thing and then you get here and realize that may not be possible or it isn't the best path for you. If you want to have options save as much money as you can. Also plan your move well. Have a place to move into lined up and try and come visit the state before you move.
Also an interstate move is a big lifestyle change. Many people who have moved here wished they weren't burdened by so much stuff and financial obligations. The more you can get rid of the easier it will be to get settled into your new life.

Thanks…I will try to sell my stuff but things here in Cali are not going to well…the job market sucks. the Aflac market is heavily saturated so making sales is hard. I want to come visit first but coming from California is not cheap. anyway thanks for the info and I will keep it in mind. As for the job, I can work with Aflac in NH, just need to get my Insurance licenses in NH.
