Greetings from the State of Jefferson

…AKA, Southern Oregon/Northern California.

I've been following the Ridley Report for a couple years now which was how I heard about FreeKeene. Can't say I'm to keen (no pun intended) on leaving my beloved State of Jefferson but I figured I'd finally drop in and start networking with other liberty-minded folks.

I've been a self-proclaimed "libertarian" since I was about 16 but, unfortunately, that didn't stop me from enlisting in the Army when I graduated highschool in 2008. After initially loving it, my tune begin to change after I started to realize that most of my fellow soldiers' "patriotism" was didn't run much deeper than "us vs. them." A deployment to Iraq in 2009 solidified my growing apprehension towards the government and, after more than a year of fighting for discharge as a conscientious objector, I finally came home to Oregon December 2010 as a full-blown anarcho-capitalist.

It's been an interesting couple of years, to say the least. Not that I'm back in Oregon I'm slowly working towards getting some libertarian activism going in the area. I figured I could do a lot worse than come on here and take some pointers from you guys.

Keep up the good fight!

welcome.  I really dig your avatar

Welcome. I have a friend out there in Jefferson. He's not very political, he mostly wants to live by himself, by close to his family, and have everyone else leave him alone.

Welcome.  You have an interesting story, it's cool that you followed your convictions too.

David,

Good luck out there.  If you get frustrated with your lack of progress, please come join hundreds of like-minded liberty lovers here in NH!  http://freestateproject.org

Meg is from Oregon, originally, so you wouldn't be the only one.
