Let me first answer the prerequisite questions here to introduce myself:
1. Tell us about yourself.
I am a programmer currently living out in Santa Barbara, CA but am planning on moving my family to New Hampshire soon (hopefully summer 2014) as long as the job situation works itself out and I get clearance to work remotely.
2. Why are you here?
To learn more about New Hampshire, the FSP, and its people.
3. How did you find the Shire Society?
Free Talk Live, FreeKeene.com, FreeStateProject.org and its forum.
I have been fantasizing about moving to New Hampshire to join the FSP for a long time now, and my plan is starting to move closer to a reality. The next step now is for me and my family to visit the state, thus we just planned a spur of the moment vacation to visit for a week, starting this Thursday. I am a huge Halloween fan, so I'm hoping to kill a couple birds with one stone by staying in Keene to see the Pumpkin Festival and hopefully attend some liberty events and meet some Free Staters as well. I'm still working on our itinerary, but we'll mostly be around Keene this weekend. The other days we'll be bouncing around between Nashua, Manchester, and all the other places in between to get a feel for the state.
I'd love any ideas or recommendations from people on how best to experience New Hampshire. How does the activism vary between cities? It sounds like Keene is definitely hotbed for protesters working on civil disobedience, but how would Manchester and Nashua compare? Do Free Staters in these cities mostly work inside the system?
I have been pretty active in the Liberty Movement since 2007 and have worked both inside the system and a little outside. I'd say I've gradually moved philosophically towards working outside the system even though I still am very heavily involved within the system as far as political involvement. Either way, I think I'd be a great asset for the movement with my passion for liberty, my political experience, as well as my technical expertise. One of the things I enjoy most about being involved in the liberty movement is meeting other like-minded people, so that's what I look forward to most about moving to New Hampshire. Here in CA there are definitely pockets of us and my goal has always been to find more. I think once I am in New Hampshire it will feel a lot more like my true home.
Bienvenido, Bandito!
You'll love it here. I'm excited that you are planning to move to NH and continue as a liberty activist.
There's a lot going on here all the time. The easiest/best place to see upcoming events with Free State Project early movers is on Facebook. If you are there, send me a note and I'll link to some events that you may want to check out during your visit.
I'm sure we can find some people to meet up with you in Manchester and in the Seacoast area while you are here. You'll have plenty of opportunity to meet the fine activists in Keene, as well.
Once you know your itinerary, you can send a note to visit@ freestateproject.org and Chris can let others know of your arrival and try to arrange some social networking for you here.
I'm a liberty activist, elected (Republican) State Rep, and a REALTOR, and am happy to chat with you about any of those topics.
Best,
Mark Warden

Did you end up visiting and/or are you still here?
In any case to answer your questions, I'd guess that the majority of Manchester and Nashua people would fall more into the 'inside' the system with 'ignore the system' being the next most popular approach. If you are in the Nashua area today (Sunday) there is an event a Martha's Exchange (http://www.marthas-exchange.com/) - Main st in Nashua - that usually starts around 6 PM.
Many of us (though certainly not all) were at an event last last night for a local bar's 2nd year anniversary so I am not yet sure what sort of turnout we might have tonight but I'll post back here later in the day with an update if people start canceling or confirming.
Long day. Looks like I will pass on the social tonight.
Greetings Jeff. I am still here in NH, and am now in Manchester after visiting Keene over the weekend. Thanks for the heads up about the liberty social on Sunday night at Martha's Exchange in Nashua. My family went over there tonight and got to meet Steve, James, Paul and his wife Melissa. We had a great time despite our two young kids being a bit tired. So far we all love everything about NH, and had a great time in Keene at the pumpkin festival and touring the town. It looks like it would be an awesome place to live. I love the small town feel and the beautiful scenery. However, we're still going to explore the other areas around NH such as Manchester, Nashua, Concord and the sea coast the next few days. Hoping we can make a better informed decision about where to live in NH after we're done with this trip.
If you still want to get together at some point during the next couple days let me know. Our schedule is pretty open, as we're just going to be bouncing around and exploring as much as we can and hopefully meeting some more Free Staters. I'll keep checking the forum regularly for any ideas.
Welcome!
