When Android fans say crap like this it doesn’t make me want to change from my very reliable and easy to use iPhone.

I switched from android to iPhone. I don’t regret it. I use to flash my android and everything and my iPhone is still better

My problem with iPhone is Apple lording over the app store and making somewhat dubious decisions about what’s in the store. It’s really had a negative effect with some things like cryptocurrency wallets. There’s also the memory issue, where you’re stuck with the internal memory and can’t add any.

But you must realize that you do not represent the average consumer with the requirements you have for a smartphone.

Really? I don’t think I’m anything special on a phone, and I do think unnecessary restrictions are good. I wouldn’t dream of telling people they shouldn’t choose whatever brand phone they want. Your post seems sorta adversarial, and if mine seemed so, I’m sorry about that. To be honest, I don’t like Android, but reality is what it is. I’d prefer an open iPhone, and being a software guy, I could hack it, but first, that wouldn’t get me apps no one wrote because they couldn’t get approved, and second, it wouldn’t be standing for principle.

I think that’s the crux of the issue.
I went through my “angry libertarian phase” a few years ago and it made my life miserable. (In some ways, I’m still paying for it.)
I decided that I’m going to just live my life and not be so obsessed with being so principled. I agree with a lot of your criticisms, but I’m so tired of fighting.
I just want to live the rest of my life in peace.
P.S.
I’m sorry for coming across as adversarial.
I get annoyed too easily and fall into the trap of wanting to defend my choices.
