D.A. investigating me?

A few weeks ago, police visited my residence here in Winchester. I was here but, in my room on the other side of the house I didn’t know the cops were at the door. According to the property owner, they asked for him. They gave him a number he was asked to call: the D.A. Later when he called, they asked him if he knew me, Dave Ridley. They asked if I lived here. He said yes. They how long I’d lived here. My landlord said off and on for years.

So… probably it is them checking to see if I am supposed to be voting here or in Rindge (where I lived in 2022). That is his take on the conversations.

But like pretty much all interactions with police (even indirect), they should be documented and shared with the public. So there it is.

Since when is determining voting status a police matter? My guess is you’ve been put on a Watch List, like Tulsi Gabbard, and they are required to know where people on that list live at all times.

Yea, call me skeptical too. They know who you are and it seems unlikely they’d be investigating over voter related matters such as this. It’s not like people don’t move around all the time. There would be too many hits to start investigating every person whose changed addresses. Given the context (mainly who you are, a libertarian free stater activist) it sounds more like someone is trying to come up with some crime to justify an arrest for political reasons. Confirming your address is just one part of such an endeavour. There are a number of folks who’ve left because political targeting and pretending like this is just “routine” police work is hogwash.
