Hello to all,
I am an independent minided guy, always thought for myself…
Talking about this with others was never much in the front of my brain though, I have to admit. My friends simply were and are that way, or accept that I am unique and eccentric.
However, I have taken up an interest in an emerging science called "Network Science", and to make a long story short, it makes sense that one should participate in a variety of forums (in which they would have an interest of course).
(If someone shows an interest, I will explain and even run a thread on that essential idea).
What does Network Science have to do with liberty and freedom of mind? More than you might at first guess.
I suspect that…
well… I don't want to take off with a big digression on my first post.
I am looking forward to getting a good sampling of others' thinking here first.
What I would LIKE to find is the sensibility that used to run though certain books that I read and took for granted as a kid, that convey a certain spiritual oxygen about the idea of freedom.
All for now

Me too. That is one of the many reasons that brought me here. Welcome!
The "network science" peaked my interest as a excellent activist project. I always pondered the genius of the culture of the Mormon church surrounding the extensive financial/business networking among their like minded community. I wonder if there is a way to encourage liberty minded people to set up something similar. I know some of these relationships already exist, but I can bet there are lots of opportunities to improve. You could organize liberty lovers and promote, emphasize and reinforce the business networking within the liberty community. Living, working and playing with like minded people is very important, but maybe more important is supporting them by making them part of your business network. Or maybe it is just a way to share tons of information that will be very useful during the economic train wreck. Sounds like a interesting idea, at least the title.

Unless anyone else objects, I am interested in your thoughts on the connection between network science and individualism. Digress all you like.
Welcome to the Shire Society forum!
I agree with PabloKoh, a freedom network or mutual aid society is an intriguing possibility as more movers make it into the region. The development of a counter economy drew my interest as soon as I experienced my first Porcfest. The various shared needs and interests seemed to be fertile ground for the development of various business and cooperative networks to accomplish everything from innovation in IT or currency to a return to locally sourced food. The limiting factor currently seems to still be numbers and distractions in each person's life, usually financial and family. Normal jobs tend to draw a lot of productivity out of any activist endeavors. The most successful and visible activists have either been semi retired or managed to tie their business to their activism.
