Greetings to all liberty-loving people of the Shire!
I'm a long-time supporter of the Free State Project, member since 2002-2003 (can't quite remember when I signed up). I moved around in the last 10 years, from Montreal, New York, Atlanta, and currently Raleigh NC. The last decade has been very interesting for liberty lovers: while the groups rallying under the various banners of governments have been squeezing more and more out of us, the ideas and ideals of Liberty have never been as popular and openly discussed! I couldn't wish to be alive at a different time in our history.
The two main labels that define my thoughts and behavior are Extropian and Voluntaryist. I have an optimistic outlook on the future and I like to analyze current events from a rational and (often) cynical perspective.
Professionally, I'm a bit of an IT geek at heart, even though I'd be more accurately described as a low-level corporate executive. I've never quite been able to shake that "corporate" word from my resume. Don't mistake me for a lazy bureaucrat though, I like to "rock the boat" and tend to be the go-to person who makes things happen wherever I work.
10 years after signing the FSP pledge, I'm starting to think it might be time to do something about it. I'm looking at starting my own business and relocating to an undetermined location in the Shire.
Here's what I'm looking for on this forum:
- Background information about life in the Shire
- Building personal relationships
- Identifying appropriate location for relocation
- Professional contacts for future business opportunities (contact me if you're interested in IT security consulting services, anonymity on the Internet, secure communications, etc)
I don't have a timeline for relocation yet, but I am planning to ride my Harley Fat Bob through the Shire in the last week of August. I'm hoping I can connect with a few locals at that time and get a feel for what life in the Shire is like.
Welcome & congratulations on your decision to move to New Hampshire! I'm sure you'll find the people very welcoming.
The area you relocate to will depend on your price range, what you're looking for, how close you want to be to liberty events, etc. If you have any questions or need additional info, you can email Mark Warden or me at info@porcupinerealestate.com
When you roll through NH, we can help arrange some introductions and social gatherings for you. There is an informal FSP "Welcome Wagon," and if you'd like to meet folks in Nashua or Manchester or Keene or Seacoast to find out more about living in those areas, it can be arranged. If you're on Facebook there is an active social community there to post notice of your arrival in advance. If not, feel free to PM me with details.
Very cool that you are thinking seriously of making the move!
Mark
Good idea to move now - with over 1100 already here, things are moving and you can jump right in!
Welcome to the forum
Life is great here with others who actually care enough to do something about liberty. I'm so glad I moved sooner rather than later. 8)
