In the past week, there have been some major marijuana policy developments in Congress.

First, we heard that Senator Cory Gardner had received assurances from the President that his administration would not crack down on states with legal marijuana and that he would sign legislation that allows states to make their own decisions on marijuana policy.

And yesterday, Democratic Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer announced that he will be introducing a bill to remove marijuana from the Controlled Substances Act, also known as descheduling.
These shifts at the highest levels of American government would deliver a fatal blow to our country’s experiment with marijuana prohibition — a failed public policy that has ruined lives, fostered social injustice, and deprived sick and suffering people of effective medical treatments. For decades, reformers have campaigned in pursuit of this moment.

What can you do to help us push this over the finish line? Call Senator Chuck Schumer (202-224-6542) and Senator Cory Gardner (202-224-5941) — thank them for their leadership and encourage them to continue their push for Congressional action this year.

Thank you,
