What I wrote to the Chief of Police in town of Weare
« on: January 30, 2012, 04:47:00 PM »
Dear Chief of Police,
We live in Norway and I stumbled on a video of your interacting with a public who were seeking information on policy of receipt for items confiscated and treatment of people by the police in general. They were trying to obtain information so they would know when policy was enforced and on what level. To be honest Sir I was appalled. You  treated the public with disdain, disrespect and total lack of concern for their problems. You didn't give them a time of day. It says to serve and protect on many of your vehicles, I did not see that today. Our family decided to see other videos with the police interaction in your town and other cities in the state and we became very concerned about what would happen to us should we visit and ask a policeman, even you, for some information. We decided based on all we witnessed that the risk is far too great to us and we have canceled our vacation to the state.
We all truly hope that whatever it is that is wrong with the police and public and its perception of the police be resolved peacefully and with respect to the public.
You Sir and your patrolmen are public servants, I hope that what Churchill stated about  civil servants that they are no longer civil and no longer servants is not true in your town and state.
Very sincerely,
Henryk and family
END*********

Does anyone have an e-mail address for the tourist office in  town? I will write to those folks as well.

The idea of a tourist office in Weare is an odd one. Weare is pronounced like "where" and is short for "middle of nowhere."

I also wrote to the Chief of Police in Keene. Same flavor as the one to Weare with variations since the videos are very different.
