The national anthem is an old English drinking song

Long before it was the star spangled banner it was the "Anacreonic song" I'm including links to both the wikipedia article and a youtube video of the song being performed by the Georgia Tech Glee club. If you're like me and the star spangled banner seems like nationalistic nonsense you would do well to learn the words to the original song. Independence day is tomorrow and you will certainly have opportunity to sing it. I'd also like to make this request to the Shire Choir, Please add this to your songbook!

That is awesome.  Almost everything else in this country is a spin off, so why not the anthem as well?  Good find  ;D
