Hiring Business Manager/Assistant
« on: April 02, 2011, 02:03:01 PM »
I am happy to say that I have reached the point in my freelance work (graphic design, video editing, and logo/title animations) where I am no longer able to handle the business end of things AND the creative side.  So I am putting out this opportunity for someone to make some extra money, gain some experience, and take away the piles of work I'm horrible at so I can simply focus on creating better quality products and more of them.

Job Title: Business Manager/Assistant

Location: Keene, NH (or work from anywhere online!)

Compensation: 14% of all business you bring in

Responsibilities:
- networking
- contacting/soliciting new clients
- scheduling
- budgeting
- creating invoices
- updating/keeping up relationships with previous clients
- collecting payments

I'm mainly looking for someone who has great communication and people skills, and can keep me and themselves organized and on task.  While experience in sales and business management may be helpful, it is by no means required.  I will primarily focus on finding someone who I feel can get the job accomplished, and be a great fit with me as well.

While I would not suggest viewing this opening as a "full time job", the income from it will be based entirely on the amount of work you put in.

If you are interested, please send an email to meg.mclain[at]gmail.com with the following information:
Name
Location
Email
Phone
2 References
Short explination of why you would be the best person for the job.

APPLICATIONS MUST BE RECIEVED BY APRIL 10th

I will be contacting applicants over the next 2 weeks.
*note: following the application instructions is the 1st test*

IMHO, 14% is kind of insulting for the amount of work you're asking someone to do. 30% is more in the ballpark.

Sounds like you're not expecting to bring Meg much business if you think 14% is too low.  All you have to do is close one $7M job for her and you would get a commission of nearly ONE MILLION DOLLARS.  But that's not enough for you?

Yeah, a ballpark idea of what sort of income is expected, would be helpful.  I know someone who may be interested, but not without knowing 14% of what...

I got the impression the whole point of the offer is to hire someone who knows what.

No, in all seriousness, something like, "at current levels, you would earn ____," so if that's enough, or if you think you can market better and improve the numbers, you should apply.  I know most folks wouldn't want to release such information (since simply math would yield the individual's income), but at least a ballpark would help, so a potential applicant knows if it's worthwhile to apply...

If "current levels" were adequate, I doubt the duties would include "soliciting new clients."

Yes, but that would at least give a starting point.

Tell them they're doing it for "Liberty", then you won't even have to pay them 8)
