Howdy from SW Wisconsin
« on: June 22, 2012, 08:29:01 AM »
Howdy Shire dwellers, The names Nayt Stroebel. I'm a 23 year old culinary professional, I don't have the piece of paper to "prove" it as i went to a semester of culinary school and decided it wasn't worth indebting myself further to the government in order to do things i was already doing in the real world. My path to liberty started in high school, being a gay teenager who couldn't justify falling in line with the Democratic party's platform. I identified as a constitutionalist/minarchist for a long time, until i came to terms with the fact i couldn't justify the philosophical inconsistencies. I saw the effects of statism to the extreme in an all to brief adventure as an English teacher in Cambodia, and have since then devoted myself to spreading the message of liberty in whichever way i can. I've tried spreading the message locally but with the exception of a couple close liberty loving friends, this area is quite devoid of a freedom loving community. I will be attending next years PorcFest for the experience and to network before i make the move to the Shire at the end of next summer. From the research I've done I'm thinking of relocating to Keene, possibly Manchester, but the work of the Free Keene folks is incredibly encouraging. Thanks for reading, I'm always happy to get to know more liberty lovers!

SW Wisconsin, eh? My wife's from Dubuque and has relatives all over the area, and my 21 year old son just moved to Milwaukee, so I have family and in-laws that have you bracketed.

Welcome to the Shire. I hope you find what you're looking for. If you're good, you'll probably find a lot of work, but change jobs a lot if you work for others. Even the bigger cities of NH have a lot of restaurant turnover; the venues that last for decades are for comfort food, not innovation.

Wow I'm bad at replying to my own thread! Craig, thats awsome! I'm in Dubuque every Sunday. As far as the food industry is concerned my goal is to just find an FRN paying job part time to cover rent and then cover the rest of my personal needs in the agora, putting my skills to use that i learned from my hill dwelling rural family.

Ian, i never knew any of those guys were from Wisconsin, I've been following your guy's work for quite some time, nice to know i won't be the only freedom lover from the dairy land in Keene. I came across your forum when i first started researching the FSP about a year ago and finally made the decision to join up and start networking. It's awesome being able to connect with you, I listen to LRN daily, keep up the good work brother!

"Hill dwelling"? They got hills in Wisconsin?  ;D

Your plan is sound, if pragmatic. By your avatar, I see you understand the true value of the FRN, but that's what we have to work with short of going pure agora.

Minimize your possessions and expenses, work every job you can find, maximize your savings, and you'll do fine. Even in the worst of times, people have to eat, and they prefer to eat good food prepared by someone who knows what he's doing.
