For the politically inclined
« on: January 15, 2012, 04:01:59 PM »
As I am no longer a participant in the political process, I thought I would toss this idea out there to see of anyone wanted to take it as their own...

What if politicians had to face consequences for creating unconstitutional mandates/laws?  Say a state rep writes a law, it's voted in, then someone goes to court for violating it, and a judge determines the law to be unconstitutional?  Why is the offending politician who created this violation of his/her constitutional oath not dismissed from office and banned from government participation?  Or even charged with the crime of violating the constitutional rights of those whom their unconstitutional law was applied to?

It may make them think twice before passing anything that comes to mind into law.

You would just end up with more judicial corruption.

I'd take it one step further.  Hold anyone who voted for the offending politician responsible.  Take away their right to vote, or even charge them with the crimes of the politician they voted for.
It happened once that men sat together in a boat at sea.  Whereupon one of them drew forth an awl and began to bore into the boat's bottom.

"Stupid one," the others cried at him, "what are you doing?"

"And what concern of it is yours?" he answered.  "Is it not under my own seat that I am making the hole.

There'd be a line in each bill afterwards exempting themselves.
